FRIDA Dolls Mom&Mini 3 - SilaiWali

Silaiwali’s cloth dolls are such lovely things: perfectly designed and handcrafted. Each doll is stitched by hand by women who have fled from Afghanistan to India. The work allows them to earn a living and form a new community.

70 women who up-cycle fabric scraps often generated by the fashion industry, creating these lovely dolls. These are Frida and Mini-Frida, a happy mother and daughter, wearing traditional dresses.

A stitch against waste. A stitch for freedom.

• The dolls even comes with a bed, as the cardboard box they arrive in has a little pillow and a blanket.
